Does bad weather really exist? It depends on focus – and attitude. Like when you wake up in the morning, you can choose to be happy or choose to be grumpy.
The sun shining, and life feels good. Flirting winds can feel embracing. Rain, even heavy rain, can be refreshing. And to many of us, snow is pure, exhilarating magic.
Within minutes nature can turn on us and show its power. Like in my photo from the other day. Some of us can even smell the fury of nature when the wind shifts and a storm is rising – fast.
To lay in the grass, watching the clouds tell their story and not worry ‘bout a thing … what an inspiring feeling. Similarly, standing in running water, like in the picture, inhaling the smells and devouring the sounds, makes me feel strong, empowered. Thank you Dad ♥️… wherever you are up there … for teaching me love and respect for nature and weather the way you did.
This summer has delivered extreme heat in some parts of Europe, unusual cold weather in others. Including Norway, where the cold and wet was ‘sweetened’ by fresh snow in the mountains this weekend. And the short glimpses of ‘normal summer’ have been just that – very short.
Everyone is busy complaining. News media, social media, social settings. And too many of us are avoiding the unpleasant question: What if this is a taste of the new normal? Isn’t it time we shift focus and listen to what nature is trying to tell us?
Instead of allowing ourselves to indulge in self pity and feel misrable, we should ask ourselves ‘what can I do, how can I contribute?’ It’s really up to you and me: Prioritize, motivate, change, be rolemodels, lead. By example. And take inspiration from those who do – the younger ones in particular. Wouldn’t it be great to become infected by their energy, enthusiasm and determination?
Every little change counts. And remember – the task at hand is not to help nature, but to help ourselves. We are nature.
So – here’s my personal challenge to you: Find your own way, your own melody, your own source of insipration, and go for it! ♥️
“A bird set free … ” ~ a beautiful song by Sia
And I don’t care if I sing off key
I find myself in my melodies
I sing for love, I sing for me
I shout it out like a bird set free
No, I don’t care if I sing off key
I find myself in my melodies
I sing for love, I sing for me
I’ll shout it out like a bird set free
